CENNZnet & CarbonClick Partnership - To Offset Carbon Emissions

CENNZnet and CarbonClick Partnership

There are rising concerns over the effect some blockchains have over the environment. This is because carbon emissions are produced when the mining computers solve mathematical equations to verify bitcoin transactions. Besides this, even recording in blockchain ledger adds to the emissions.

Rewards for Bitcoin mining reduce by half which makes the mathematical puzzles more complex thereby increasing the emissions as more computing power is needed.

The issue is constantly being highlighted in major forums and some blockchain technology companies are taking action. One such company is CENNZnet, a consumer-oriented blockchain project. CENNZnet is a public blockchain and Decentralised Application platform that supplies startups with the tools and resources that they will need to build a blockchain DApp including wallet, identity, exchange, messaging. They have entered a recent partnership with CarbonClick resulting in the offset of carbon emissions.

CENNZnet, a consumer-oriented blockchain project, has entered a recent partnership with CarbonClick resulting in the offset of carbon emissions. This comes as a welcome solution to rising concerns over the effect some blockchains have over the environment.

CarbonClick empowers businesses and their customers to tackle climate change, by making carbon offsets simple, trustworthy and cost effective. Their solution can be integrated into businesses with minimal effort, at a fraction of the time and cost otherwise possible

Through the partnership, CarbonClick has tokenized over 1,454.111 tons of carbon that have been successfully sequestered through its projects. These verified NFT representations of real carbon emissions that are no longer in the atmosphere have been fractionalized into the platform’s native CO2 tokens. These tokens are now available for users to buy, sell, or burn by sending them to a Sequester Wallet.

CarbonClick CEO Dave Rouse, CEO of CarbonClick, shared his outlook on working with CENNZnet. “CENNZnet is the most user-friendly and accessible network out there. Launching our product here has been seamless and we’re sure it will guarantee the best of user experiences for all the people who are looking to use CarbonClick to help save the environment.” The team has shared further details on how these solutions work with the blockchain.

Nicole Upchurch, CEO of CENNZnet, shared her thoughts on the importance of the partnership. “Making carbon offsetting something easy and accessible for users and developers who build on our network is something we’re very excited about. The work CarbonClick is doing is a great leap forward in terms of environmental protection and something that aligns with our overall vision of supporting Dapps with a purpose.”

The CENNZnet team minted 5,000 NZD worth of CO2 tokens and made them available to users in support of the initiative. These credits are enough to cover the future and past impact of the platform on the environment, making CENNZnet carbon negative. Moreover, applications built on CENNZnet will also have access to on-chain carbon credits, allowing them and their users to combat climate change. The platform’s carbon status is available in real-time via a tracker site: https://carbon.centrality.ai/
