■The Annual Halloween Open House at the Allenstown Police Department will be held on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m., this is a free and fun event.
■The Second Annual Halloween Lighting and Decoration Contest began on Oct.1 to Oct.15 to register your house decorations. From Oct.15 to Oct. 29 to check out all the wonderful decorations and vote on the ones you feel is best. There will be an award ceremony on Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. at the Blueberry Express Park (Town Hall) for trophies and gift certificates. For more information call 485-4276 ext.116.
■St. John the Baptist Monthly Market will be held on Oct. 30 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Parish Hall.
■Volunteers for the St. John the Baptist Yard Sale on Nov. 6 will be meeting on Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall. This upcoming event will be an indoor yard sale starting at 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
■The Suncook Senior Center will hold a Harvest Party and music with Mark Stanzler from 11 a.m. to noon. This is a fun event so please sign up with Eileen at 485-4254 and enjoy the fun.

EPSOMKids movie matinee
■The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday at 6 p.m. at the town office meeting room.
■The Planning Board meeting will meet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the town office meeting room.
■Children’s Movie on Oct. 25 at 1:30 p.m., we will be showing “Max and Ruby’s Halloween,” at the library. Snacks and drinks provided. Masks are required and seating is limited to 30. Please call to sign up. Check our social media pages or call the day of the movie to check for any last-minute available spaces.
■On Oct. 27 at 1:30 p.m., watch “Ghostbusters,” at the library. We’ve all seen it but let’s look at it again. Three former parapsychology professors take a chance of going freelance, de-haunting houses in a new ghost removal service. Their first clients have inadvertently opened the gates of hell – right in their own apartment building. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Rick Moranis, and Sigourney Weaver star.
■For the first year in a long time, the library will be hosting Halloween events on Oct. 29 and 30 for all ages! All indoor events will be limited to 30 patrons and masks will be required. Sign-up sheets will be available for anything inside starting in October.
■Join us on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. for a showing of “Hocus Pocus.” The movie will be shown indoors. Please make sure to sign up. Check our social media pages or call us the day before the event to see if we still have available spaces. Costumes are encouraged.
■On Oct. 30 we will have several activities from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. We will be joined by ECCPI at 10 a.m. to give a presentation on the paranormal world. They will be sharing stories, showing captured evidence, and displaying the equipment they use. At 11 a.m. Portsmouth Paranormal Research Society will be presenting “The Psychic and the Scientist.” Learn about paranormal investigating from both the scientific and spiritual viewpoints. We will also have activities for the kids with cookie decorating and Halloween carnival games. ■On Tuesday mornings at 10:15 a.m. Mahjong is played in the library meeting room. Come observe or learn to play! The group meets every week.
■Story Time is Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Children and their caregivers listen to stories, sing songs, and enjoy crafts. October themes will include spiders, pumpkins, and Halloween. Masks are required.
■There will be a Flu Clinic at the Epsom Public Library on Oct. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. This clinic, by the Granite VNA, is for people aged three years old and up. Masks are required. Immunizations are offered at no charge with an ID card from Medicare B, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, or Anthem. For all others, the immunization is $30 (cash or check). The standard quadrivalent influenza vaccine will be provided.
■The hours for Halloween Trick-or-Treat will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31.

■The Suncook Valley Rotary club is back with the annual Penny Sale fundraiser on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the gym at Pittsfield Middle High School! The Penny Sale consists of three “banks.” Each Bank has at least 100 donated items valued at approximately $10 to $30 each. Tickets are purchased for each bank for $1, giving the purchaser up to over 100 chances per ticket to win a prize. We also have a silent auction for the higher valued items and a 50/50 raffle that night. If you would like to donate any items, please reach out to us! ■Registration is open for the Deerfield Veterinary Clinic Catamount 5K on Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. A children’s run at 9:45 a.m. is free for kids eight and under. The 5K can also be run virtually to allow participants their choice of time and place. Register now at www.catamountwomenaid.org. On-line registration is $22 for adults and $15 for children under 12, and ends on Nov. 6. The race-day registration costs are $30 for adults and $20 for children. All proceeds benefit Catamount Womenaid, a nonprofit that provides emergency financial assistance to men, women, and children in Barnstead, Deerfield, Epsom, Northwood, Pittsfield, and Strafford. ■The Josiah Carpenter Library’s next StoryWalk features Froggy and his friends as they build a treehouse with help of a surprise helper. Book pages have been mounted in 15 windows throughout the downtown area. Tie up your walking shoes, grab your water bottle and enjoy a stroll through our beautiful little town. Families can grab a map from the mailbox that is attached to the new community bulletin board at Dustin’s Park. As you return to the library on Main Street to read the last page of the book, stop in to pick up your free gift! Please note that there is not a book page at Family Pizza this time as they’ve been closed for vacation. Instead, there are extra pages at Main Street Grill and Bar.

■The Pittsfield Historical Society continues to raise funds for a new museum and headquarters. A commemorative garden on the museum grounds is being worked on. A “buy-a-brick” project affords an opportunity for people to buy a brick to honor yourself, loved ones, or whomever you wish to remember.
