New York, NY - A The Freedom Rising Conference aims to promote respectful dialogue, challenge antichrist and harmful misconceptions, and emphasize love, justice, and equality as central to both the political and religious spheres.
“The Freedom Rising Conference is a much-needed event in these troubled times,” says Rev. J. Lewis, one of the conference’s speakers. “It offers a chance for us to come together, learn, and grow as we work towards dismantling fascism with fierce love.”
The conference will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, including Obey Hendricks, the author of “The Politics of Jesus” and “Christians Against Christianity: How Right-Wing Evangelicals Are Destroying Our Nation and Our Faith.” addresses the role of the Church in a political context and the need for it to remain faithful to its mission of spreading the message of love and peace. He argues that religion should not be used as a tool for political gain, but rather as a means to promote love, justice, and equality.
Meanwhile, conference moderator and speaker, Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, Senior Minister, Middle Church, the host of the “Love Period” podcast and author of “Fierce Love: A Bold Path to Ferocious Courage and Rule-Breaking Kindness That Can Heal the World,” will address the politicization of religion And the need for religion to remain faithful to its mission of spreading the message of peace and Jesus’ one and only important teaching, Love Period.
During the three-day Freedom Rising Conference happening on April 28-30, 2023, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from three speakers each day who will delve into topics related to the politicization of religion and the fight for collective liberation.

The second day will focus on liberating attendees’ stories and help them dream more expansively about what they deserve. The day’s events will examine the ways that stories about race, class, gender, and sexuality have conditioned attendees, and help them write different stories grounded in love and freedom. Attendees will learn about the centrality of rest and joy in activism and how to cultivate community.
Day Three: The Politics of Ubuntu
On the final day, attendees will learn about the ancient wisdom of Ubuntu and the truth that we become a person through other people. The day’s events will include subject experts across a wide array of topics to help attendees dream about policy solutions that help all people flourish. The day will also explore what a politics based on these truths would look like and how it would change our current thoughts about borders, policing, and voting laws.
