The PEACE through Music Diplomacy Act was recently signed into law by President Biden. The passage of this bill is a reminder of the power and the effect of music, as well as its ability to increase the understanding between cultures and people worldwide. The Act directs the Department of State to leverage partnerships with the private sector when designing and implementing the music-related exchange programs run by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It authorizes explicitly music-related exchange programs that advance peace abroad, and it encourages the DOS to integrate a focus on conflict resolution into all relevant exchange programs for young musicians.
