I had the pleasure of sitting down with Finn Wyters, the founder of Chuchaki Surf—an emerging surf brand that’s quickly making waves. During our conversation, I asked Finn about the inspiration behind the brand and the vision that fuels it.
Finn shared that Chuchaki Surf was born from a feeling. Picture the moment after a long surf session—barefoot on warm sand, a backpack packed with salt-stained clothes, and a head full of stories. No rush. No plan. Just presence. That raw, unfiltered sensation sparked something authentic. It’s the kind of vibe you can see on the Chuchaki Surf Instagram page, where videos capture the surfing lifestyle and the deep connection between people and nature.
Chuchaki Surf wasn’t created to chase trends or sell a polished image. It was built to reflect a way of living. The brand embraces simplicity, slowness, and meaning—a mindset rather than a marketing strategy. With a longtime love for fashion, Finn felt that starting a clothing line as a natural next step. It allowed him to design pieces that expressed his lifestyle and values.
So, what does “Chuchaki” mean? It translates to “rich in memories.” The word embodies freedom and imperfection—being fully alive and present, a little messy, a little salty, but always real. The name captures the essence of spontaneous road trips, surfboards strapped to the roof, and clothes that feel like souvenirs from unforgettable adventures. It’s about honesty, spontaneity, and the joy of just being. Chuchaki Surf champions the idea that true wealth isn't found in flashy cars or designer brands—but in meaningful moments and a life well-lived.
When asked what sets Chuchaki Surf apart from other surf brands already on the market, Finn emphasized that the brand isn’t interested in being the loudest voice. Instead, it’s focused on growing intentionally and staying grounded in its core values. While many surf labels highlight a curated image, Chuchaki leans into the feeling. The brand prioritizes natural fabrics, ethical production, and sustainability—like planting a tree for every item sold. It’s not about gimmicks; it’s about creating clothing that supports a thoughtful, adventurous lifestyle. These pieces are made to last—and to be with you through every wave and road trip.
I also asked Finn about his long-term vision for the brand. His response was full of ambition and purpose:
“We’re starting with clothing, but the vision is much bigger. One day, Chuchaki Surf could become a full surf lifestyle brand—surf camps, hostels, shops, and cafés where people can gather, connect, and dream. We want to create a space where young people and surfers alike feel welcome.
Eventually, when the budget allows, we’ll expand to all kinds of surf gear—wetsuits, boards, accessories, and more.”
It’s clear that Chuchaki Surf isn’t just a clothing line—it’s a feeling, a movement, and a growing community. It invites people to embrace imperfection, seek out simplicity, and live lives filled with meaning, adventure, and connection.
