Tetyana Didenko is a globally recognized body language analyst, nonverbal communication expert, executive coach ICF, and keynote speaker. With over a decade of experience coaching executives, entrepreneurs, and professionals, she has helped many people use non-verbal communication to succeed in negotiations, sales, pitches, and leadership. In this exclusive interview, Tetyana shares insights into her journey, her work, and her upcoming book on the power of non-verbal communication in business.

Q: Tetyana, your work has impacted professionals across industries. Can you tell us how you became a body language expert?

Tetyana Didenko: My journey began with a fascination for human behavior and how we communicate beyond words. Early in my career, I worked in high-pressure corporate environments, where I noticed that success often hinged on unspoken cues—posture, eye contact, gestures. I studied non-verbal communication deeply, using knowledge from psychology, neuroscience, and real-life experiences, and also took some specialized courses.

Q: What’s one of your proudest achievements in your career so far?

Tetyana Didenko: One of my proudest moments was when a client, a startup founder, said our coaching helped him get a huge investment worth millions of dollars. He was getting ready for an important pitch to some tough investors. We worked hard on his body language—how to look confident, stay calm under pressure, and notice the investors’ reactions to adjust his style. Watching him leave that pitch with not only the money but also more confidence was amazing. These kinds of moments remind me why I do this work.

Q: Your clients range from top-tier corporate executives to entrepreneurs. What common challenges do they face, and how do you help them overcome these?

Tetyana Didenko: Many professionals, from beginners to experts, find it hard to show confidence and be genuine in important situations like negotiations, sales pitches, or leadership talks. They often focus only on their words, forgetting that 55–93% of communication comes from body language. I teach them to use small signals—like steady eye contact, clear gestures, or mirroring someone’s posture to connect better—to make their message stronger. My method is simple and personalized, so they can use these tips right away to look confident and get better results.

Q: You’re writing a book on non-verbal communication in business. What inspired this project, and what can readers expect?

Tetyana Didenko: The book was born from seeing how transformative non-verbal skills can be in business, but there aren’t many practical guides out there. I wanted to create something that explains body language clearly for professionals and entrepreneurs, especially in high-stakes scenarios like negotiations, sales, and investor pitches. Readers can expect real-world techniques grounded in science, with actionable steps to strengthen their leadership presence and influence. It’s not just theory—it’s a playbook for immediate impact, drawn from my work with top leaders and my own experiences navigating high-pressure environments.

Q: Can you share a specific technique from the book that professionals can use right away?

Tetyana Didenko: Absolutely. One powerful technique is the “Power Pause.” Before responding in a negotiation or presentation, take a deliberate two-second pause. This does two things: it signals confidence and control, and it gives you a moment to read the other person’s non-verbal cues, like a subtle shift in posture or facial expression. This small habit can shift the dynamic, making you appear more authoritative while giving you critical insights into the other party’s mindset. Practice it, and you’ll see immediate results.

Q: You’ve spoken at global events and trained teams across cultures. How does body language vary across different contexts?

Tetyana Didenko: Body language is universal in many ways, but cultural nuances matter. For example, in some cultures, direct eye contact signals confidence, while in others, it can be seen as confrontational. I teach clients to adapt their non-verbal communication to the cultural context while staying authentic. My global work has taught me to read these differences and help clients navigate them, whether they’re pitching in New York or negotiating in Tokyo. It’s about blending universal principles with cultural sensitivity.

Q: What’s next for you?

Tetyana Didenko: I’m excited to launch my book, hoping it will reach professionals worldwide and spark a broader conversation about non-verbal communication in business. I’m also expanding virtual training programs to make workshops more accessible globally and developing a new course on making the right first impression, which will help professionals to set the tone of a meeting or negotiation and lead to a desirable outcome. My mission is to empower as many people as possible to communicate with impact and authenticity.

Q: Any final advice for professionals looking to elevate their influence?

Tetyana Didenko: Never underestimate the power of your non-verbal presence. Your body speaks before you do—make sure it’s saying what you want. Practice small, intentional changes, like standing tall or using open gestures, and observe how others respond. It’s like learning a new language—one that can open doors to greater success.
