In a special report, Technology Futurist Ian Khan suggests that the development of COVID19 vaccination passports can lead to jump-starting of global economies. For the last 12 months, trade and Commerce across the world have suffered significantly due to COVID-19 related lockdowns and closures.

Technology futurist Ian Khan has released a special report on the responsible development of a COVID-19 Vaccine Passport. Khan, says the development of a COVID-19 vaccination passport demands that governments across the world innovate responsibly. One of the reasons for this has been the insecurity that people infected with COVID19 could transmit the virus to other people. "A lack of Future Readiness has led to countries locking down a significant amount of times, leading to an economic collapse and technology can come to the rescue", says Khan.

Steps to do that, Khan has postulated, has seven key elements of a framework that would be globally acceptable in developing such as passport system.

  1. Ensure that no single government or entity can dictate the design framework and instead a global coalition comes together to develop the idea.
  2. Use technologies such as blockchain that can create cryptography-backed security of information rather than traditional databases.
  3. Give and individuals the ability to control Who can access their information.
  4. Provide alternative solutions that show proof of vaccination on paper documents but are backed by blockchain technology for communities that do not have access to the Internet or smart devices.
  5. Prioritize the rollout of a vaccination passport that facilitates the opening of global economies rather than isolated pockets and communities.
  6. Give users the ability to keep, delete or selectively share their data from the vaccine registry rather than a central authority.
  7. Ensure transparency & accountability.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put Digital transformation in a fast gear over the last year. Organizations and individuals that were technology averse are now using technology to conduct business and stay connected to their loved ones. "Our awareness of using different systems and platforms has rapidly increased, and in terms of general comfort level with technology, we have progressed ahead 10 years in the last 12 months," says Khan. "This gives me hope that the acceptance of technology as a solution to alleviate problems the world faces is going to be much more acceptable", he added.

"Our future as a race is going to be impacted by technology to a significant extent. There is an opportunity for us to be able to control our private lives, and at the same time be part of a social structure determined to overcome any challenges“ said Khan.

In recent days Khan has appeared on numerous TV networks including ABC News Australia, Fox News to comment on the state of Vaccine passports globally.
