No one gets the work-life balance thing more than a remote worker. You don't have to be bound by office timings, commuting distance, or four walls. As long as you have an internet connection and a laptop, the world is your workplace.
Interestingly for the remote worker, some states are incentivizing remote workers to live and work there. Let us look at the states that will put some money in your pocket if you move there.
1. Tulsa, Oklahoma - $1000 Grant
The state of Oklahoma will give a $10,000 grant and a one-year membership to a co-working space if you move to Tulsa. You only need to meet the basic requirements of moving to Tulsa in 2021, being at least 18 years old and having a permit to work in the United States. At the time of moving, you should not be working anywhere in Oklahoma but be a full-time remote worker or self-employed.
The $10,000 payout will be made in three stages. $2,500 will be given as soon as you relocate to Tulsa. Later, you will get twelve payments of $500 each and a final payout of $1,500 at the end of the scheme.
If you want to set up a home permanently in Tulsa and purchase a new home here, you can receive $10,000 in one lump sum. You should complete the Tulsa Remote member orientation and plan to live in Tulsa for a full year to be eligible.
2. West Virginia - $12000 Incentive
West Virginia offers a $12,000 incentive to live and work in Morgantown, Lewisburg, or Shepherdstown. The payout will be made in twelve equal installments for a year. The remaining $2,000 will be paid after you live for two full years in the state. Besides the cash incentive, you will receive an outdoor recreation package worth over $2,500 with free outdoor gear rentals. Gree access can be gained to a co-working space and social and entrepreneurial programs.
3. The Shoals, Alabama - Ranges $6,000 to $10,000
The cities in The Shoals area, including Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, and Tuscumbia, incentivize people to move and work there. The Remote Shoals program's incentive scheme requires you to move in the next six months and be qualified to work in the United States. The exact reward amount you will receive depends on your earnings. It can range from $6,000 to $10,000 for annual wages between $52,000 to $124,799.
It is an excellent time to be an adventurous, remote worker.
