University Circle is on the east side of Cleveland in the district of the University. The area is easily one of America's most trendy cultural attractions; it is densely populated with museums and performing arts venues. The Cleveland Museum of Art displays almost 45000 objects with a collection that includes artifacts that are over 6000 years old. The iconic façade of the Museum of Contemporary Art on Euclid Avenue demonstrates the creative ideas that make up its identity. The display strategies are constantly evolving as recognition of newer art forms championed by younger artists.
The internationally recognized Cleveland Institute of Art is in the University district. It also boasts of the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve and the Sculpture Center, which are at the hub of this beehive of artistic activity. The University district also has a vibrant music scene. It is home to the Cleveland Institute of Music, one of only seven private music conservatories in the US. One of the Big Five American orchestras - The Cleveland Orchestra – is considered the finest in the country. The beloved annual Blossom Music Festival takes place for ten weeks from the first week of July. The festival features classical symphonies and contemporary Hollywood film scores. The magnificent Severance Hall, another University landmark with cultural and historical significance, is the favored venue where the orchestra plays.
The University Circle also houses several outdoor sculptures. Including a 21-feet tall giant silver "Judy's Hand" at Uptown, "Steggie" who has greeted visitors at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History since 1968, and "Sprouting Seeds," a sculpture and play area for kids, at the Cleveland Botanical Garden.
