The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made the world realize that physical fitness is critical to achieving a healthier and happier life. Regular physical activity can improve health and significantly reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disorders. There are only a few individuals who develop and stick to a workout regime. Among this group of people, a name that deserves mention is Wayne Evans.
An American fitness coach, Wayne Evans is an athlete and an entrepreneur. He was born on July 1st, 1960, in Seguin, Texas. Wayne Evans belonged to a family of athletes, with all three of his elder brothers being sports enthusiasts. Naturally, he, too, developed an inclination towards athletic activities from a very young age. During high school, he indulged in various sports, ranging from track and field to baseball. As a high school student, Wayne Evans was highly inspired by Katlyn Jenner (then Bruce Jenner), who competed in the Olympics in 1976 and won a gold medal in the Decathlon. This inspiration led him to achieve the title of the high school State Champion Pole Vaulter. His passion for sports only grew more intense with time. He enrolled at Texas State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985. Even during university, he played numerous sports, participated in the Decathlon, and was awarded the Collegiate Track and Field Scholarship (Pole Vault).
After finishing his degree, Wayne Evans stepped into the professional world as a school teacher and coach. His enduring passion for athletics pushed him to join the health club industry, where he had the opportunity to train San Antonio Spurs’s shooting guard, Wiley Anderson. Even though Wayne Evans was doing well in his career, he still had a burning desire to achieve something bigger in life and make a name for himself. In 2010, he decided to stir things up and joined CrossFit. A lifestyle defined by safe, effective exercises and clean eating, people use CrossFit to accomplish a wide variety of goals, from improved health and weight loss to enhanced performance in athletics. With utmost dedication and diligence, Wayne Evans improved his bodyweight movements, barbell movements, and gymnastics with CrossFit. In 2012, he competed in a sanctioned CrossFit competition. Being relatively new to this training regime, Wayne Evans could not finish among the top athletes. However, he did not give up and trained to reappear in the competition in 2015. As expected, he achieved 11th rank in the worldwide CrossFit Open in the Mater’s Men (55-60) category.
The Beginning of Something Big
While working as a fitness coach, Wayne and Shane conceived a unique idea in 2004, as they together laid the foundation of a massage retreat in San Antonio, Texas, named “Massage Heights.”
The center employs only licensed and professional massage therapists who are trained to provide a wide spectrum of customized treatments to customers. The retreat offers a variety of custom massage modalities, such as Deep Tissue, Swedish Sports Therapy, Prenatal and Reflexology, and custom Dermalogica skin treatments, including anti-aging, sensitive skin, clear skin, and brightening. Recently, Wayne and Shane Evans also introduced a range of experience-enhancing add-on services called “Elevations,” including Reviving Foot Scrubs, Revitalizing Face Massages, Hot Stone Therapies, Active Therapies, Skin Enriching, Skin Refining, Skin Purifying, and all-natural aromatherapies. The Evans’ have recently hired a new CEO and President to take “Massage Heights” to new peaks of success in the industry.
In Wayne Evans’s words, “I enjoy anything and everything outdoors!” When he is not training, teaching, or looking after the business, he is involved in one or more of the following activities: hiking, scuba diving, water skiing, kite surfing, camping, driving vintage cars, or riding motorcycles. In 2019, Wayne Evans climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, a 19,341 feet tall dormant volcano located in Tanzania and a world-renowned tourist spot. This was one of the most thrilling, intense, and enlightening experiences of his life.
Wayne Evans’ life journey is of diligence, perseverance, and dedication. He continues to face new challenges every day and improve himself.
