TikTok Influencer @alixx_in_the_hous Shares Do’s and Don’ts for Repotting

Are you a plant lover and a new plant parent? Well, planting is not all fun, especially the repotting part. Beginners often end up killing the plant in the process.

In this video, TikTok influencer Alixx shares how to not kill plants while repotting them.

Here are the dos and don’ts -

1. Use a pot two inches bigger than your current pot. Do not ever repot your plant into a pot too big for it.

2. Always use a clean pot. Reusing a dirty pot transfers the bacteria. Ensure you sanitize it with hot water and soap before reusing it.

3. Ensure you are using the right soil type.

4. Never pack your soil too dense into the pot; it may get root rot.

Here is how you should repot a plant -

1. Squeeze the pot gently or tap the sides so that the plant comes out all intact.

2. Fill the bottom part of the pot with a thin layer of soil.

3. Loosen the roots a bit.

4. Transfer the plant.

5. Add water to prevent transplant shock.
