The synergy between Streamr and MapMetrics offers potential for a variety of initiatives, starting with the integration of MapMetrics data into the Streamr Hub, participating in MapMetrics’ Bitcoin Rocket Contest, and hosting the rocket video live stream on the decentralized Streamr Network.
Rocket Contest
MapMetrics is hosting a live contest, featuring a digital Bitcoin rocket traversing the world across various locations, trackable via a live stream. The driver running the MapMetrics app to mine their location data who is closest to the rocket by the end of the competition will win an entire Bitcoin. Streamr has embraced this opportunity to reward its node runners as well, launching a monthly side contest featuring a Streamr-branded spaceship that shadows the Bitcoin Rocket.
To enter, Streamr node runners simply tweet a screenshot of their node’s location from the Network Explorer app using the hashtag #StreamrNodeTour. Each month, a winner is selected based on the proximity of their tweeted node to the rocket's location at a randomly chosen time, and they will receive $100 worth of DATA tokens to stake with Zonaris, and one year’s node subscription for Zonaris.
MapMetrics Data Streamed on The Hub
Streamr is delighted to welcome data from MapMetrics drivers to The Hub—a platform for hosting and discovering Web3’s live open data. This anonymous data can be used and traded to generate vital insights about roads, such as emerging hazards, unmarked traffic lights, speed cameras, and other obstacles, identified in real-time through advanced machine learning plugins.
Video Stream of the Rocket
P2P video streaming is something the Streamr team is excited to explore. Demonstrating the validity, scalability and stability of decentralized live video feeds could offer new use cases where no centralized intermediaries are required to deliver and distribute the content. As a significant step in this direction, the MapMetrics Bitcoin live feed will transition from YouTube to Streamr.
