Ruth Garnes was born the second of six children to a multi-ethnic family in Belize. She started working at the tender age of twelve in order to help offset the cost of her high school education.
She developed a strong work ethic very early on. After migrating to the US at age 18 and again there she had a number of jobs to pay for her nursing studies. She later became a registered nurse and even then, she felt that if I could accomplish what I already have given a chance, so could any person, who believes in himself.
