Rising Stars: Footballers to Watch in 2024

Top European football rising stars to watch in 2024.

From the Premier League to La Liga and everywhere else in between, Europe’s top leagues are filled with top talent right now.

The likes of Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe have lit up their respect leagues in recent years, with the trio among the best three players in world football.

But what about the youngsters still looking to make a name for themselves?
To celebrate the rising stars in European football, we’ve highlighted five starlets to keep an eye on for the rest of 2024.

Arda Guler - Real Madrid

Kicking things off with a player who already plays for one of Europe’s biggest clubs, but could catch the eye in the coming months.

Arda Guler’s first season at Real Madrid was marred by injuries, with the Turkish international managing just 12 appearances across all competitions.

Despite spending most of his time away from the pitch, the dynamic attacker notched up an impressive six goals during the 2023/24 campaign.

A return of one goal every other game, expect Guler to continue improving throughout the 2024/25 season.

Oscar Bobb - Manchester City

From the reigning European champions, to the team who Real Madrid snatched the crown off in Manchester City.

While they may boast an already star-studded roster, watch out for Oscar Bobb’s development as the year progresses.

The 20-year-old played a bit-part role for City last term, but Bobb is expected to be involved more next season.

And given Norway didn’t qualify for the European Championships, the winger should be fit and firing as soon as pre-season rolls around.

Joao Neves

Delving a little deeper into the European market now, with Joao Neves a teenager tipped to go right to the top.

Filling the gap left behind by £100million man Enzo Fernandez, Neves is the latest Benfica prodigy to impress for the Portuguese side.

His form earned him a call-up to the Portugal side for Euro 2024, with Neves expected to feature throughout the tournament.

Whats’ more, the 19-year-old has plenty of eyes tracking his progress, with talk of a big-money move this summer starting to gather pace.

Jorrel Hato

One of Europe’s most promising defenders, Jorrel Hato might only be 18 years old, but he’s already performing at a high level.

A rare standout moment from an otherwise dismal 2023/24 season for Ajax, Hato’s emergence has been catching headlines in the Netherlands.

The youngster played 46 times across all competitions for the Dutch giant and better still, Hato doesn’t turn 19 until March 2025.

Ajax’s only problem will be keeping hold of him, with Arsenal one of the clubs rumoured to be interested in signing Hato.

Adam Wharton

And finally, Adam Wharton may have only signed for Crystal Palace in January, but the midfielder has already taken the Premier League by storm.

A classy and composed metronomic midfielder, Wharton has shone since joining Palace from Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

Comfortable in and out of possession, the 20-year-old looks destined for the top, with reports City themselves are taking an interest.

That’s to come further down the line, but Wharton remains a player to watch during 2024, with the midfield anchor continuing to go from strength to strength.
