Emma Rose, 16-year old rising senior, has been recently admitted as the youngest student researcher in the history of the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. Emma Rose stands out as a trailblazer in a leading research university —- University of Texas at Austin is an esteemed member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), recognized among North America’s leading research institutions.
Under the leadership of PhD Hugh Smyth, Emma Rose will spend the next year conducting research typically reserved for college graduates and PhD candidates. Her age isn’t a barrier; it’s a badge of honor.
Driven by curiosity, Emma Rose is working alongside researchers at University Lab to advance personalized medicine, by helping to develop pills with precise combinations and dosages of multiple drugs, her work supports the future of more effective, tailored treatments for complex diseases.
Emma Rose is currently earning Harvard college credit at the advanced Secondary Summer School program in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She will return to her magnet high school this fall to complete her high school.
She recently founded a new chapter of the Science National Honor Society (SNHS) at her high school to recognize and uplift students excelling in science. Through this chapter, she aims to cultivate a deeper passion for scientific discovery among her peers and empower them to pursue excellence in their own research and academic journeys.
About Emma Rose
Emma Rose is a trilingual student leader, research assistant, and aspiring medical innovator. She is the Founding President of the Science National Honor Society chapter at LASA Magnet High School, where she launched the organization to celebrate scientific excellence and empower students to pursue careers in STEM.
Emma is passionate about the intersection of science, identity, and human potential. This summer, she will attend Harvard Summer School to study Neurodiversity, further advancing her vision for inclusive innovation in medicine and education.
In parallel, she is certified as a national SAT Math Tutor through a highly selective program founded by Khan Academy and Schoolhouse.world. Out of more than 15,3 million high school students nationwide, Emma was one of just 2,200 students selected—placing her in the top 0.0001% of certified peer instructors. She will soon lead a nationwide SAT Math Bootcamp, continuing her commitment to educational equity and student-led support.
