Board-certified pediatrician, award-winning children’s book author, and early childhood literacy advocate Dr. Letisha Jefferson is proud to announce the release of her new picture book, Zoe’s Day with Dr. J. Blending her clinical expertise with a nurturing perspective, Dr. Jefferson aims to ease children’s anxiety about doctor visits and inspire confidence through storytelling.
With over a decade of experience caring for children and families, Dr. Jefferson was inspired to write Zoe’s Day with Dr. J after seeing countless young patients enter her office with fear and uncertainty. As both a physician and mother, she recognized the power of books to shape a child’s mindset and empower them to approach medical experiences with curiosity and courage.
Zoe’s Day with Dr. J follows a bright and inquisitive young girl as she prepares for her pediatric checkup. Through vibrant illustrations and relatable dialogue, the book normalizes common experiences—such as height checks and vaccines—while encouraging children to ask questions, express their feelings, and build self-advocacy skills.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Jefferson serves on the boards of the Early Learning Coalition of Duval and ScienceSiS, and volunteers with organizations such as Read USA and Reach Out and Read. Through her company, Learn and Play with Dr. J, she continues to create educational resources that bridge health, play, and learning.
