Previous Frieze fairs have been held in traditional art capitals like London, Paris and New York, but industry experts say Seoul was a natural pick for the first Asian edition of the prestigious event.

Turkey offers to mediate in Ukraine nuclear plant standoff

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered on Saturday to mediate in the standoff over a Russian-occupied nuclear power station in war-torn Ukraine that has raised fears of an atomic disaster.. There was no immediate mention of Erdogan having also spoken to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday to offer his mediation.

Google allows Parler app back into Play Store

Google allowed social media network Parler back into its Play Store Friday, more than a year after banning the platform popular with conservatives in the wake of the insurrection at the US Capitol.. Parler had become a haven for far-right personalities who say they have been censored by other social media platforms such as Twitter. 

Russia halts gas supplies to Germany

Russia has halted gas deliveries to Germany via a key pipeline an indefinite period after saying Friday it had found problems in a key piece of equipment, a development that will worsen Europe's energy crisis.. Germany said Friday its gas supplies were secure despite the halt to deliveries via Nord Stream.

Selfridges targets 'circular' sales for almost half its goods

UK department store Selfridges said Friday that it wants almost half of its sales to be products given a new lease of life as part of the upmarket retailer's efforts to improve sustainability.. The scheme, for Selfridges' four physical branches as well as its website, is part of the group's broader "Project Earth" policy launched three years ago to improve sustainability.

G7 to implement Russian oil price cap 'urgently'

G7 industrialised powers vowed Friday to "urgently" move towards implementing a price cap on Russian oil imports in a bid to cut a major source of funding for Moscow's war in Ukraine.. The aim of the price cap on oil exports was to "stop an important source of financing for the war of aggression and contain the rise in global energy prices", he added.

Russia's Gazprom expected to resume pipeline supplies

Russia's Gazprom looked set to resume gas supplies to Europe via Nord Stream 1 this weekend, data from the pipeline operator showed Friday, after a halt that fuelled an energy crisis.. Delivery orders, published on the Nord Stream website, indicated that supplies should resume at 2:00 am Saturday (0000 GMT) at 20 percent of their usual capacity -- the same level as before the latest maintenance works. 

Greenpeace drops boulders on UK seabed to curb bottom-trawling fishing

Greenpeace UK said Friday it had dropped 18 large boulders on the seabed in a marine conservation zone off the coast of southwest England to prevent "destructive" industrial fishing.. "We are placing large limestone boulders on the seabed to create a protective underwater barrier which will put the area off limits to destructive fishing," Anna Diski, UK oceans campaigner, told AFP on board.

Fifteen years after its launch, a Google Maps feature that lets people explore faraway places as though standing right there is providing a glimpse of the metaverse being heralded as the future of the internet.. Street View lets people click on locations in Google Maps to see what it might look like were they at that spot, and even look around.
