Italy orders probe into TikTok over dangerous content

Italy's competition watchdog said Tuesday it had opened an investigation into video app TikTok for failing to enforce its own rules on removing "dangerous content" related to suicide and self-harm.. "The guidelines of the companies who own the platform, which envision the removal of dangerous content that instigate suicide, self-harm and unhealthy nutrition, are not applied," said the watchdog in a statement. 

UK's former PM Johnson accepts MPs misled over 'partygate'

Britain's former prime minister Boris Johnson admitted on Tuesday that he misled parliament by telling MPs that parties at his Downing Street office did not break Covid lockdown rules.. "I accept that the House of Commons was misled by my statements that the rules and guidance had been followed completely at No. 10 (Downing Street)," said Johnson.

Kenya says 238 arrested in day of violent protests

Kenyan police said Tuesday they had arrested 238 people during violent protests over the cost of living which also saw 31 police officers injured.. The inspector general of police, Japhet Koome, said in a statement that 213 people were arrested in Nairobi and 24 officers injured. 

West Bank settlers win Israel parliament vote

Israel's settler movement celebrated Tuesday after parliament annulled part of a law banning them from residing in areas of the occupied West Bank the then Israeli government evacuated in 2005.. Uganda to vote on harsh anti-gay bill

Uganda's parliament was due to vote Tuesday on anti-gay legislation which proposes tough new penalties for same-sex relations in a country where homosexuality is already illegal.. "The Anti-Homosexuality Bill is ready and will be tabled (put) before parliament for a vote this afternoon," said Robina Rwakoojo, chair of the legal and parliamentary affairs committee, which has been studying the legislation.

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to give a televised interview on Wednesday, with the 45-year-old seeking to calm public anger over his pension reform and tamp down spiralling protests and strikes.. Another round of strikes and protests organised by trade unions have been called on Thursday and are expected to again bring public transport to a standstill.
