French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday pursued his African tour aimed at renewing frayed ties, inking an economic accord with Angola.. - Anti-French sentiment -  He arrived in Luanda late Thursday from Gabon, and is due in Brazzaville later Friday before winding up his tour in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Sri Lanka's top court on Friday ordered the government to proceed with a delayed local election, overruling President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who said the country was too broke to pay for it.. The Supreme Court ordered Sri Lanka's treasury to grant funds for the polls which were originally planned for March 9, but put off indefinitely last week when the government refused to finance them.

Belgian judges on Friday prolonged the pre-trial detention of Greek MEP Eva Kaili, accused of receiving bribes from a corrupt network allegedly funded by Morocco and Qatar, for two more months.. A second MEP accused in the sprawling inquiry, Belgian Marc Tarabella, saw his pre-trial detention extended by one month, Brussels prosecutors announced.

Activists end protest at Norway ministries over illegal wind farms

Demonstrators protesting against wind farms that were declared illegal after they were built said Friday they will end their action, following a week of action at Norway's government buildings.. It follows an apology by the government for violating the rights of the Sami reindeer herders with the construction of 151 turbines in the Fosen region in western Norway -- which are still in operation, despite the supreme court declaring them illegal in October 2021.
