At least 34 dead in two Turkey road accidents

At least 34 people were killed and dozens injured in two separate road accidents Saturday, each in places where collisions had taken place shortly before, local media reported.. Three paramedics, three firefighters and two journalists from Turkey's Ilhas news agency were among those killed, local media reported.

Guinea opposition calls fresh protests after deaths

A political coalition on Saturday called for fresh protests a day after Guinea's junta denied its forces had shot dead two teenagers at opposition demonstrations earlier in the week.. It called for the demonstrations last Wednesday -- also forbidden by the junta -- at which the two teenagers were shot dead.

The other part of this package deal is the unimpeded access to the global markets of Russian food and fertiliser, which are not subject to sanctions," Guterres said, adding that despite this, Russian fertiliser and agricultural exports still faced "obstacles."

Ex-president dos Santos's body to arrive in Angola

The body of Angola's Jose Eduardo dos Santos, who died in Spain last month, was to arrive in Luanda Saturday, government said, ending a weeks-long feud over the repatriation of the ex-president's corpse.. The body was due to arrive in Luanda in the late afternoon, a government official told AFP without providing further details.

Eight dead as Somali forces battle Al-Shabaab at besieged hotel

At least eight civilians have been confirmed dead in an attack by Islamist militants on a hotel in the Somali capital Mogadishu, an official said Saturday, as security forces continued to battle gunmen holed up inside.. "The security forces continued to neutralise terrorists who have been cordoned inside a room in the hotel building; most of the people were rescued but at least eight civilians were confirmed dead so far," security commander Mohamed Abdikadir told AFP. "The security forces rescued dozens of civilians including children who were trapped in the building safely," he added.
